Injury Assessments

We are excited to announce that Altius is partnering with JENeral Care Wellness to offer monthly injury assessment appointments to both gymnasts and their families - siblings and parents! It’s a great opportunity to get that nagging knee pain your child has complained about over the past few months checked out before competition season ramps up. Or - for adults - the wrist pain that flares up after every round of golf or the shoulder pain that won’t go away.

Having a physical therapist assess a minor injury right away means lower cost and less waiting than a doctor’s visit or unnecessary imaging. Your gymnast gets a clear plan to manage pain, protect the injury, and safely return to training. Early guidance helps prevent setbacks and keeps recovery on track, so they can get back to doing what they love sooner.

Jen will also share her recommendations with our coaching staff so we can help your child do the re-hab / pre-hab they need during practice to resolve minor injuries. For more complex injuries, Jen will provide information on formal PT services or orthopedic specialists in the area.

The fee is $50 per appointment. This is a cash-based service and will not be billed to your insurance. Please see our cancellation & payment policy below.

Hi, My name is Jen Muehr. I am a former competitive gymnast as well as a former coach here at Altius Gymnastics. I graduated from UW-La Crosse in 2000 with my Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. During my time at UW-L, I had the opportunity to compete on the Women’s Gymnastics, Cross Country, and Track and Field teams.

I have been working full time as a physical therapist for the past 25 years. I have had the opportunity to work side by side with an amazing group of orthopedic surgeons at Wisconsin Bone and Joint for the last 21 years where I treated countless orthopedic, work, and sports related injuries. I have recently formed my own business, and I’m excited to bring a new service to the Altius community performing injury assessments and physical therapy services in house for athletes, coaches, and parents.

During your 20 minute appointment, I will evaluate the issue at hand and provide recommendations based on the information I find during the injury assessment. I will also provide referrals as needed to an orthopedic specialist in the area who specializes in sports related injuries. Jen’s first visit will be Wednesday, September 24 with appointments starting at 5:30. She will continue to visit once a month or possibly more if needed. Book your appointment through the customer portal.

    • If an adult or sibling not listed is the participant, select any student listed and enter the name, age, and relationship of the participant in the comments section below

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to an intake form. Please complete the form before your appointment.
 
Cancellations - Appointments may be modified or cancelled up to 12 hours in advance with a full refund. Please cancel via the customer portal. There is no refund if cancelled within 12 hours.
Payment - This is a cash based service offered at Altius Gymnastics and will not be billed to your health insurance company. A card on file is required to receive this service. You may select to pay the fee through the app before the appointment or Altius will charge your account the day of your appointment.
