Please
take a few minutes to read over the policies, procedures and calendar we have
developed for our program. Please stop at the front desk if you have any
questions at any time. Our goal is to provide a wonderful, memorable gymnastics
experience for all of our students
 |
ARRIVING AT ALTIUS
 |
Please make
every attempt to arrive on time. A child arriving late usually misses one of
the most instructional parts of the class. |
 |
Shoes and
clothing should be put on the hooks on the wall, or left with parents. |
 |
Walk children in and out of the building.
Remind children never to wait outside.
|
|
 |
WHAT TO WEAR
|
 |
HAIR AND JEWELRY
 |
For
safety reasons, jewelry is not allowed. |
 |
Post earrings which need to stay in
the ears must be covered with athletic tape. |
 |
Please be sure that hair is pulled
into a ponytail if it is long enough. |
|
 |
ILLNESS / HEALTH/ HYGIENE
 |
All cuts and abrasions MUST be covered
with a bandage and athletic tape prior to class. |
 |
Children may attend class with a wart
if it is completely covered by athletic tape prior to class. |
 |
If a child has a communicable illness
or runs the risk of contaminating others, that child should be kept at home.
This includes pinkeye, coughing, fever, colds, etc. |
 |
Please do NOT call if your child will
miss one or two classes. Coaches take attendance daily and will record all
absences. If your child will be out for an extended period of time please
call the
office as soon as possible. |
|
 |
MOBILITY
 |
Altius follows a skill progressive
approach to gymnastics. Progressive classes are based on skill proficiency,
not age. Each level has a specific list of skills, which must be mastered
before moving to the next level. Promotion certificates and ribbons are sent
by mail when a child is ready to move to the next level. After receiving the
mailing, parents may call or stop at the front desk to arrange a class
change for their child. Kindergym classes are based on age. Kindergym
students move to the next age bracket when they are within thirty days of
their birthday. They will also receive a certificate and ribbon in the mail
on or around their birthday. |
|
 |
OBSERVATION
 |
Parents and siblings may observe from
the lobby area only. Gymnastics requires total concentration.
Parents are asked not “to coach” from the sidelines. Any comments made by
parents distract the students, and cause a negative effect on the entire
class. Children must learn on their own how to pay attention,
follow directions, wait in line, attempt skills, etc. in their class.
|
 |
Siblings, who are waiting with parents
must be supervised at all times. Children may not play or wait outside without
an adult present (age 18+). |
|
ATTENDANCE / MAKE UP CLASSES
 |
Ideally, it is best for your child to
attend his/her class on a regular basis. We understand that due to illness,
this is not always possible. If your child is potentially contagious,
please do not bring him / her to class. You are paying for the time slot in
the class whether your child attends or not. Pro-rating due to missed classes
is not allowed. |
 |
Altius does allow one make up class
per month if needed due to illness . Make ups are not to be used for schedule
conflicts, such as school activity, family vacation, sporting event, etc.
After your child has missed a class, you may call the office to schedule a make
up in a class with an open slot. |
FEES & BILLING
 |
Class tuition is monthly, based on 4
or 8 classes in a billing cycle. The monthly attendance dates and billing
cycles, as well as gym closings are found here. Tuition is
due by the due date shown on your monthly statement. Payments postmarked or
received on or before the due date are on time. Payments postmarked or
received after the due date are subject to a $5 late fee. Your account
number is your home phone number. Please include it on all payments.
Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card. If you would like to set
up an automatic payment plan using a credit card, please inquire at the front
desk. A payment box for checks only is located at the front desk
also. A sibling discount of 10% off class fees applies to second and
subsequent children.
|
 |
Summer classes are grouped together as one session. You have the
option of paying in full at time of registration, or paying half with the
second half being due June 30. A statement will be mailed to you in
June.
|
 |
An annual registration/ insurance fee
of $30 per child or $45 per family is due at registration, and is
non-refundable. Altius carries excess medical and liability insurance. Your
own insurance is the primary carrier. The annual
registration/insurance fee is prorated after March 1st for the remainder of
the year (until Sept. 1).
|
Program Registration
 |
Registration for the school
year classes (Sept. through May) begins in mid July.
Registrations are accepted any time throughout the year. Registration
for the summer session begins in mid March and continues throughout the
summer. |
PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL
 |
A slot is held for your
child while they are enrolled in the program. We assume that your child will
attend until the end of May. If you would like to withdraw from the
program before May, you may do so at any time by following the procedure
outlined below. |
 |
The withdrawal option is not available in summer.
|
 |
Notify the office in
writing or over the phone at least 2 weeks before the last class.
Notification MUST be done at the front desk by the parent, not the student. |
 |
Withdrawal from the program
is NOT retroactive at any time, for any reason. |
 |
After making notification,
Altius will send an official withdrawal notice, which will indicate the
student’s last day of class and any balance due.
